Platamonas Castle is probably the most important attraction of
the prefecture of Pieria and a trademark of the prefecture.
During the Byzantine and medieval times, the history of
Platamonas was identified with its famous Venetian castle. The
illumination of the Castle at night adds to glamor. Recently,
maintenance and restoration of the monument have taken
place.
